Mute is a minimalist focus timer for students and deep workers, built to help you study alone or alongside others in real time.
Solo Focus
Run timed sessions using the Pomodoro method. Set your focus duration, break length, and number of rounds. Mute tracks every session, calculates your streak, and awards XP so progress stays visible over time.
Community Study Rooms
Join live rooms filtered to your city and study with real people who are online right now. Add your tasks before each round starts, lock in, and use the break-time chat to connect. When focus starts, chat locks so everyone stays on task.
Live Leaderboard
See how your weekly focus hours stack up against others in your city. Maintain your streak to earn XP multipliers and climb the rankings.
Friends
Send friend requests to people you meet in rooms. Build a study circle and track each other's progress over time.
Ambient Sounds
Every room has a vibe: Cozy Night, Silent Library, Morning Cafe, Rainy Day, or Zen Garden, each with its own ambient audio to help you settle in.
Live Activity
A Dynamic Island and Lock Screen countdown keeps your timer visible while you work in other apps or lock your screen.
Free and Pro
The core Pomodoro timer, session history, XP, streaks, and profile are completely free. Community rooms, the live leaderboard, and friend requests are available with Mute Pro.
Privacy
Your privacy matters and Mute does not exceed any privacy boundaries. It only stores user streak points in the database, and no personal information is stored.
1. Information We Collect
Mute collects the following information when you use the app:
- Account information: email address or Apple ID used to sign in
- Profile data: username, profile emoji, and study statistics (focus minutes, XP, session history)
- Location (city only): used to match you with study rooms in your city — we never collect precise GPS location
- Usage data: Pomodoro sessions, completed tasks, streaks, and leaderboard scores
- Chat messages: messages sent inside study rooms, stored temporarily for session duration
- Device data: push notification token for friend request and session alerts
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data solely to operate the app: displaying your stats, matching you to local study rooms, showing the leaderboard, and sending notifications you have opted into. We do not sell your data to third parties.
3. Third-Party Services
Mute uses Firebase (Google) for authentication and data storage, and Apple StoreKit for subscription billing. These services have their own privacy policies. We do not share your data with any other third parties.
4. Data Retention
Your account data is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email below.
5. Children's Privacy
Mute is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
